Iconic ‘Poltergeist’ Home Lists For Sale For First Time In 45 Years: ‘This House Is Seriously Clean!’

Save the chills.

You can own a piece of Hollywood history: The infamous house from the 1982 horror classic “Poltergeist” is on the market for the first time in 45 years, sans paranormal activity, of course.

Located in Simi Valley, California, this suburban funhouse, built in 1979, is available for $1.175 million.

And 4267 Roxbury Street isn’t just a four-bedroom, three-bathroom house. It’s the house where cinematic history was made and left moviegoers sleeping with the lights on.

The film follows the Freeling family as they encounter terrifying paranormal activity in their suburban home and centers around youngest child Carol Anne, who is kidnapped by malevolent spirits through a portal in her closet.

Directed by Tobe Hooper and produced by Steven Spielberg, the film is known for its blend of suspense and groundbreaking special effects. It became a cultural phenomenon, spawning two sequels, a remake, and a lasting legacy in horror cinema.

Now, the house is ready for new owners who can appreciate its Hollywood origins without fear of a trip to the other side.

Step inside, and you’re greeted by a light-filled living room thanks to massive windows that make it hard to imagine anything sinister lurking around.

The house is described as “immaculate”, with a touch of humor thrown in by the current owners.

“Yes, this is the house where most of the first movie in the series was filmed; but this house is clean. Seriously, it is! the listing playfully notes.

The formal dining room leads to the kitchen, a fan favorite, which still boasts its original layout but with modernized appliances. It’s the perfect place to make popcorn and rewatch the movie that made this house a star.

The backyard, which covers 16,000 square feet, features a large in-ground pool and a Jacuzzi.

As the Zillow listing cheekily notes, it’s “ideal for cooling off on hot California days or hosting epic pool parties. Plus, it’s a lot safer than building a portal to another dimension!”

And with so much space, there’s even room to add a pool house or an ADU for extra income, the listing adds.

Upstairs you’ll find four bedrooms, including a master suite with vaulted ceilings, a bathroom and a walk-in closet.

And don’t worry, there’s nothing supernatural in the closet.

Equity Union’s Lauren Murdock maintains the listing.
